Fabric Information

Question: Which covers and fabrics are suitable for homes with pets?

Answer:

Choosing a furniture cover for a home with pets doesn’t mean you have to give up on style. We offer a range of durable, tightly woven, and easy-to-clean fabrics that can better handle paws, fur, and everyday activity.

To make this easier, each fabric is given a Pet Friendly Score, which you can find under “Fabric Information” on the product page. The score uses a simple 1–5 scale:

  • 5/5 – Highly pet-friendly
Best for frequent shedding, active pets, or homes with multiple animals. These fabrics are strong, tightly woven, and easy to clean.

  • 4/5 – Pet-friendly
Suitable for most pets. Durable and washable, with some resistance to scratching and shedding.

  • 3/5 – Moderately pet-friendly
Best for low-shedding or less active pets. Still washable, but may show wear sooner.

  • 2/5 – Lightly pet-friendly
More suitable for decorative spaces or occasional use. Not ideal for active pets or sharp claws.

  • 1/5 – Not pet-friendly
Light, loose, or heavily textured fabrics that may snag or be harder to clean. Not recommended for homes with pets.

If you’re unsure which fabric is right for your pet, we recommend starting with free fabric samples so you can test them at home.

Question: How do DelightMyTaste fabrics compare to other fabrics?

Answer:

We offer a carefully selected range of fabrics in a variety of colors and quality levels. Because colors and textures can look different in real life and under different lighting, we always recommend ordering fabric samples if you want to match an existing fabric or color in your home.

You can view our full fabric selection on the swatch page, and samples allow you to see and feel the fabric in your own space before placing an order.

Question: What is the DelightMyTaste Recyclability Score?

Answer:

The DelightMyTaste Recyclability Score is a simple guide designed to help you understand the environmental impact of our fabrics and make more informed choices.

We focus on extending the life of furniture to reduce waste, and we believe it’s important to know what your furniture covers are made from and what happens to the fabric at the end of its life. Each fabric is rated on a clear 1–5 scale based on how it is made and how recyclable it is.

You can find the Recyclability Score under “Fabric Information” on each product page.

The scores mean the following:

  • 5/5 – Circular
Made from recycled or renewable materials and fully recyclable or biodegradable after use.

  • 4/5 – Recycled
Contains at least 70% recycled content and can be fully recycled after use.

  • 3/5 – Recyclable
Made from raw materials that can be recycled at the end of their life instead of becoming waste.

  • 2/5 – Renewable
Made from renewable sources, such as wood, produced responsibly with minimal environmental impact, and recyclable at the end of life.

  • 1/5 – Not recyclable
Made from fibers that cannot currently be recycled.

This score helps you compare fabrics easily and choose options that align with your sustainability preferences.

Question: What is the Martindale rating for fabrics?

Answer:

The Martindale rating measures how durable a fabric is and how well it resists wear and tear. It is based on a standardized test in which the fabric is rubbed against an abrasive surface in a figure-eight motion until visible wear appears. The result is shown as the number of “rubs” or Martindale cycles.

Here is a general guide to what the ratings mean:

  • 10,000–15,000 rubs: Suitable for light domestic use, such as decorative cushions or occasional furniture

  • 15,000–25,000 rubs: Suitable for general domestic use, including everyday sofas and chairs

  • 25,000–30,000 rubs: Suitable for heavy domestic use or light commercial settings

  • 30,000+ rubs: Suitable for high-traffic commercial areas such as offices, restaurants, or public seating

In general, a higher Martindale rating means the fabric is more durable.

Question: What is the color fastness to light rating?

Answer:

All fabrics can fade when exposed to sunlight. In general, natural fibers tend to fade faster, while synthetic fabrics are more resistant to fading.

The color fastness to light rating measures how well a fabric resists color change when exposed to light. It is rated on a scale from 1 to 8, where 1 means the fabric is very likely to fade and 8 means it is highly resistant to fading. For interior textiles, a rating of 5–6 is usually recommended, while outdoor textiles typically require a rating of 6–8.

Here is a general guide:

  • Rating 4: Suitable for rooms with moderate sunlight; some fading may occur over time

  • Rating 5: Better for rooms with strong, constant sunlight; color lasts longer

  • Rating 6+: Suitable for spaces with very intense sunlight, such as rooms with large, south-facing windows

  • Rating 7–8: Ideal for fabrics exposed to intense sunlight for long periods, such as outdoor furniture

You can find the color fastness to light rating for each fabric under “Fabric Information” on the product page.

Question: Why does the pattern on my cover look different from the images on DelightMyTaste.com?

Answer:

All of our covers are custom made and individually cut from fabric rolls. Because of this process, the placement of the pattern on your cover may vary from the example images shown on our website. This is normal for custom-made products and does not affect the quality or performance of the cover.

Question: What chemicals are used in the stain protection?

Answer:

Our stain protection treatments vary by fabric type.

For most fabrics, the stain protection includes:

  • A water-repellent finish

  • A mildew-resistant treatment

  • The use of Teflon®, which is free from PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid)

For Natural Linen fabrics, the stain protection includes:

  • A water-repellent finish

  • The use of fluorine, which is also free from PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid)

All chemicals used in our fabrics are REACH approved. REACH is the European Union regulation that governs the manufacture and import of chemical substances.

Question: What type of fabric is best for furniture near a window or natural light?

Answer:

If your furniture is placed near a window or another strong natural light source, we recommend choosing fabrics with fewer or no natural fibers. Natural fibers such as cotton, hemp, linen, and wool can change in color or tone when exposed to sunlight over long periods.

Synthetic fibers, such as polyester, are more resistant to color changes caused by natural light exposure.

You can find the fiber composition for each fabric on the product page under “Fabric Information.”

Question: How can I identify a fabric shown in an image?

Answer:

We try to include all available information about the model and fabric next to each photo on our website and on our social media channels.

If you see an image where the fabric details are not clear, please contact our customer service team through the chat or the contact form, and we will be happy to help identify it for you.
